Garage remote and keypad programming in Vancouver usually runs $100–$300 including the device, and most jobs take 30 minutes to 1 hour. We pair new remotes and keypads, connect built-in car buttons, clear lost or stolen remotes from the opener's memory, and install smart controllers. Smart controller pricing depends on your opener and the Wi-Fi signal in the garage.
- Clearing the opener's memory stops lost or stolen remotes from working
- Smart controllers need a compatible opener and usable Wi-Fi in the garage
Remote and keypad problems we sort out
- Remote only works right outside the door. A weak battery is the most common reason. LED bulbs in the opener and some other electronics can also interfere with the signal.
- Lost a remote. We clear the opener's memory so the missing one stops working, then pair the remotes you still have.
- Keypad stopped working. Often a dead battery or worn contacts. If the keypad is failing, we replace it.
- Car button won't pair. Newer openers use rolling-code systems, and some cars need an adapter to work with them.
- Moved in and none of the remotes work. We clear the old codes and set up new remotes for you.
- Want to check the door from your phone. We install a smart controller.

Smart controllers and phone access
A smart controller lets you open and close the door from your phone and check whether you left it open. Many openers made in the last 15 to 20 years can take one, but it varies by brand and model.
The garage also needs a usable Wi-Fi signal. Garages are often at the far end of the house, behind concrete or under living space, and the signal can drop off. We check the signal before we install. If it is weak, an extender near the garage usually fixes it.
If your opener is too old for a smart controller, a new opener with built-in Wi-Fi may be the simpler choice. We can tell you which applies when we see the model.
Cost and what to have ready
Most remote and keypad jobs run $100–$300 including the device. Smart controller installs depend on the opener and the Wi-Fi coverage in the garage.
To get the right part the first time, have these ready when you call:
- The opener's brand and model, from the label on the motor housing
- How many remotes you want working
- Your car's make and year if you want the built-in button paired
Universal remotes work with many openers but not all, so the brand and model matter. Most visits take 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Questions homeowners ask
Why does my remote only work up close?
A weak battery is the most common reason. LED bulbs in the opener and some other electronics can also interfere with the signal.
Can I stop a lost remote from working?
Yes. Clearing the opener's memory erases every paired remote and keypad. Then we pair the ones you still have.
Will a smart controller work with my opener?
Many openers made in the last 15 to 20 years can take one, but it depends on the brand and model. The garage also needs a usable Wi-Fi signal.
Why won't my car's built-in button pair?
Newer openers use rolling-code systems, and some cars need an adapter for them. The pairing steps also differ by car and opener brand.
Can I get a universal remote?
Universal remotes work with many openers, but not all. Give us your opener's brand and model so we pick one that works.
I just moved in. Should I reset the remotes?
Yes. You don't know how many remotes the previous owners handed out. We clear the opener's memory and pair new ones for you.
