On the North Shore, Wi-Fi is often the hurdle. Many homes sit on sloped lots with the garage below the main floor or at the bottom of a steep driveway, behind concrete. Check your phone's signal in the garage before booking. Many post-and-beam homes from the 1950s to 1970s also have older openers that may be too old for a controller.
Remotes, car buttons and lost remotes
When a remote only works right at the door, a weak battery is the most likely cause. LED bulbs in the opener and other electronics can also interfere with the signal.
If a remote is lost or stolen, we clear the opener's memory, erasing every paired remote and keypad, and pair the ones you still have. For car buttons, newer openers use rolling-code systems that some cars need an adapter for. Universal remotes work with many openers but not all, so bring the opener's brand and model.
