New Garage Doors for White Rock Homes

White Rock garages are often small, sloped and close to the salt air. We install new residential doors that fit those conditions and quote every job on site first.

  • Salt spray off Semiahmoo Bay rusts springs, cables and tracks faster near the beach
  • Sloped driveways mean the door has to be fitted so the bottom meets the floor evenly
  • Older bungalows often have small single garages with tired original doors
The short answer

Garage door installation in White Rock covers replacing old single doors on bungalows and fitting new doors to steep, sloped driveways in Hillside, East Beach and West Beach. We measure and quote on site, take the old door, springs and tracks away, then hang, balance and test the new door with your opener. Most installs are done in about half a day.

  • Uptown condos usually have shared parkade gates, which we don't service
  • Most single and double doors take one visit of about half a day

Small garages on older White Rock bungalows

Many older bungalows around Five Corners and on the hillside streets have small garages with an old single door. Some are wood that's been painted over for years. Others have dents that can't be fixed because matching panels aren't made any more.

For those doors, a new one is usually the better buy. In a tight garage, we also look at track layout and clearance so the new door runs without rubbing. If the old door has come off its track more than once in that tight space, a new, properly fitted door and track set often ends the problem.

Doors on sloped driveways

White Rock is steep. Lots step up the hill from Marine Drive, driveways are tight, and retaining walls are everywhere. A garage door on a sloped driveway doesn't sit flat on the floor, which leaves gaps and puts uneven load on the door and opener.

We check the slope when we measure and fit the new door so it closes evenly and seals. A balanced door also takes strain off the opener, which matters when the driveway already makes it work harder. Steep streets can ice up on cold mornings, and a door that closes cleanly is less likely to stick.

Salt air near East Beach and West Beach

The waterfront takes salt spray and wind off Semiahmoo Bay. Springs, cables and tracks rust faster there, all year. If you're near the beach, we'll talk through hardware at the quote so your new door holds up as long as it can.

White Rock is sunnier and drier than most of the region, so damp is less of an issue than salt. If your garage is attached or sits under a room, an insulated door still makes it warmer and quieter.

Price depends on size, style, insulation, windows and hardware, and on whether the opener stays. We quote on site before any work is booked, and also serve Surrey, Langley, Delta and New Westminster.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask

My White Rock driveway is steep. Will a new door seal at the bottom?

Yes. We measure the slope and fit the door so it closes evenly and the bottom seal does its job.

I'm a block from the beach. What should I think about?

Salt air rusts springs, cables and tracks faster near the water. We go over hardware options at the quote so the door lasts as long as possible.

Do you replace parkade gates in uptown condo buildings?

No. We work on residential garage doors only. Shared parkade gates are a commercial job.

Is my old single door worth repairing?

If it's sound and parts are still made, a repair is usually the better buy. Rot, repeated damage, missing parts or no insulation are the usual reasons to replace.

Will my opener work with the new door?

Often, if it's in good shape and suits the new door's weight. On steep driveways an older opener may already be straining, so we check it and tell you plainly.

What happens to the old door?

We take the old door, springs and tracks away as part of the install.
